NIIT today is the leader in global talent management, but is also is the story of two college friends who chose to dream what three decades ago seemed impossible. In early 1981, on the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India, young, bright enthusiastic students Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani not only found themselves working at the same company and sharing the same dorm room, they also shared a vision - to successfully bring people and computers together. |
With the ambitious goal of spreading computer knowledge throughout India, Pawar and Thadani, envisioned and developed a company with an entrepreneurial spirit and an environment where even the most junior employee had the ability to contribute to strategic initiatives.
Throughout the years their unconventional, “out-of-the-box” thinking and belief in the power of research and development , has helped the duo intuitively discern and anticipate market needs to spur innovation in instructional design and delivery to bring solutions, services and products to market in just the “right” economic climate.
The collective ambition of Pawar and Thadani, which turned into a multi-million dollar corporation employing over 3,500 in over 32 countries, has become a pioneer in the field of IT education in India fueling an entire generation equipping them with cutting-edge IT skills and spawning a modern industry in India.
From introducing computers to the people of India, to providing advanced IT skills to students and professionals, to IT programs which have enabled ordinary citizens to achieve computer and internet literacy, two young entrepreneurs have shaped the lives of millions. Pawar and Thadani have succeeded far beyond the original goal. Today NIIT is among the top 20 IT training companies in the world.
